Information you provide:
- Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID, email address (if shared), and name (if shared).
- Contact Information: Names, phone numbers, and notes about your relationships that you choose to store.
- Voice Notes: Audio recordings and transcripts you create within the app.
- Events & Actions: Calendar events, reminders, and to-dos you create.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the app's core functionality
- To process voice notes and extract relationship information
- To send notifications and reminders you've configured
- To sync your data across devices (if enabled)
- To validate your subscription status
Data Storage
On-Device Storage: Your contacts, voice notes, and relationship data are stored locally on your device using SQLite. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.
Server Storage: We store minimal account information (user ID, subscription status) on our servers to validate subscriptions and enable account recovery.
Data Processing
Voice transcripts may be processed using Google's Gemini AI to extract relationship information. Transcripts are processed in real-time and are not stored on external servers after processing.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only:
- With service providers who assist in operating the app (e.g., cloud infrastructure)
- If required by law or to protect our rights
- With your explicit consent
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Export all your data from Settings → Export my data
- Delete: Delete your account and all data from Profile → Delete Account
- Portability: Download your data in JSON format at any time
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure token storage using iOS Keychain
- Optional end-to-end encryption for cloud sync
Children's Privacy
Backpocket is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
